Devious Maids has been cancelled by it’s US network Lifetime it has been announced.
Created by Desperate Housewives’s Marc Cherry, the show followed a group of maids, Marisol (Ana Ortiz), Rosie (Dania Ramírez), Carmen (Roselyn Sánchez) and Zoila (Judy Reyes), working for the rich and powerful of Beverly Hills, California. They are bonded together by their jobs, life struggles and the melodramatic universe that engulfs their employers.
It’s an interesting move for the network. Although ratings had slipped over the seasons, as they tend to do, Season 4’s ratings had been fairly consistent with the previous season, and twice as high as the critically acclaimed UnReal. However, Lifetime has seen a change in management recently, and it’s thought the cancellation is more to do with it not fitting with the creative direction of the network than ratings.
What’s annoying for fans, is that Season 4 ends on a rather large cliffhanger, which now will not be resolved…
Season 4 of Devious Maids is currently airing on TLC in the UK.
