GoT’s Richard Madden Cast In ‘Strange New Things’ Pilot For Amazon

So we’ve had Stranger Things, and now Amazon, not wishing to be left out, has commisioned a pilot called Strange New Things! Hah! Take that Netflix! Our strange things are newer!… Ahem… anyway… Game Of Throne’s Richard Madden is set to take the lead.

Based on the Michel Faber’s 2014 sci-fi novel ‘The Book of Strange New Things’, it sees a priest (Madden) sent to the planet of Oasis as a missionary, but what he ends up discovering not only puts his faith to the test but life as we know it.

Richard Madden is of course best known as Robb Stark, the young King Of The North who made a very unfortunate choice of wedding venue in Game Of Thrones… Since his ‘crimson shaded nuptials’, Madden starred with Idris Elba in the movie Bastille Day, played Prince Charming in Disney’s live-action Cinderella, and appeared in the West End for Ken Branagh in Romeo and Juliet.

British screenwriter Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies) is set to pen the show, Kevin MacDonald (The Last King of Scotland , State of Play) is directing and producing, along with Andy Harries (Mad Dogs, Strike Back), and Lila Rawlings from Left Bank Productions. Left Bank and Amazon Studios are co-producing the drama.

Strange New Things will be part of Amazon’s pilot season, which is then voted on by members of Amazon Prime so the company can decide which shows move forward.
