It would seem the Hand Of Amazon is more powerful than the Hand Of God, as the streaming service cancels the drama starring Ron Perlman after 2 seasons.
Created by Burn Notice’s Ben Watkins, the story followed Pernell Harris (Perlman), a corrupt judge who suffers a mental breakdown and sets out to dispense some vigilante justice on the rapist who tore his family apart. To aid him, he begins to rely on ‘visions’ which he believes are from God, and being passed to him via his ventilator-bound son. Additional cast includes Dana Delany (Body of Proof, Desperate Housewives) who co-stars as Pernell’s wife, Andre Royo (The Wire, Empire) and Garret Dillahunt (Justified, The Mindy Project, ER).
Amazon released a statement saying “We’re wrapping up the storyline in Season 2, which debuts next year, and are excited to bring it to customers.”
Despite dropping a few shows this season, Amazon still has a healthy slate of home-grown series including the brilliant The Man in the High Castle, Bosch, Goliath, Sneaky Pete, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, and of course, The Grand Tour. Amazon UK also has a particularly good selection of bought in shows including Mr. Robot, Lucifer, Outlander and Life in Pieces.
Hand Of God’s 2nd and final season will air on Amazon Prime in 2017.
