Given the massive amount of buzz around this drama, it was pretty inevitable someone would pick up NBC’s This Is Us. Now we know that someone is Channel 4!

This is Us is described as a ‘smart, modern and refreshingly honest comedy drama’ that follows the lives of an ensemble of characters, played by Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, Gilmore Girls) and Sterling K. Brown (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story). With Chrissy Metz (American Horror Story), Justin Hartley (Smallville), Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson and Ron Cephas Jones also starring.

As their paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways, we find that several of the characters share the same birthday and so much more than anyone would expect. This Is Us will challenge your everyday presumptions about the people you think you know.

For a show which doesn’t seem to have any obvious ‘gimmick’ or hook (i.e. no superheroes, time travel, spies etc…), This Is Us created a huge amount of interest when it was aired at the L.A. screenings earlier this year. That was followed by a ‘first look’ trailer which amassed an incredible 64 million Facebook views and 8.5 million on Youtube.

“This Is Us is unmissably life affirming with a warmth that has drawn critical acclaim and bumper ratings,” commented Channel 4 CCO Jay Hunt “It’s a great addition to our strong slate of acquired shows – from Deutschland 83 to Fargo.”

Channel 4 have yet to release a UK tv air date for This Is Us but we’re assuming it’ll be sooner rather than later. Keep an eye on the This Is Us uk premiere date page for the latest info.
