New Gilmore Girls Cast Featurette

As anyone who’s listened to Geektown Radio in the past few months will know, I went through a period of obsession with one particular show – Gilmore Girls.

Gilmore Girls is not sci-fi. There are no aliens, zombies, or other things you would expect the Editor of Geektown to insist on a show having. In fact the only reason I watched an episode was because I was bored one afternoon, and I was fed up with Netflix nagging me about how I should ‘watch it next’. It is however, brilliant, and just goes to show you how good Netflix can be at knowing what you might like.

I immediately fell in love with the show. It’s brilliantly witty, fast-paced, pop culture referencing dialogue. It’s beautifully eclectic mix of eccentric townspeople. And especially Lorelai (Lauren Graham) & Rory (Alexis Bledel) Gilmore, the 2 central, coffee obsessed characters, who hold the whole thing together. I binge-watched my way through 7 seasons in a just few weeks…

Now Netflix are reviving Gilmore Girls for an event series run of 4×90 min episodes entitled Gilmore Girls: A Year in The Life, airing 25th November 2016. The featurette above doesn’t give much away about the new show, but does feature all the original cast (minus the sadly departed Edward Herrmann), talking about the revival.

A number of the cast have gone on to become well known names in geekdom, such as Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki & Heroes Milo Ventimiglia. There’s also Liza Weil who is now starring in How to Get Away with Murder, Sean Gunn, brother of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, and (geek fact) on screen stand in for Groot, and of course, Melissa McCarthy, who has had a massive career thanks to the show.

I personally can’t wait till 25th November 2016… I’ll put some coffee on…
