Peter Weller Joins The Last Ship

Ex-Robocop Peter Weller will be joining The Last Ship it was announced today.

Weller has landed a recurring role on the popular drama as Dr. Paul Vellek, a world-renowned scientist in genetic modification and plant biotechnology. The role will apparently play a critical part in Season 4 of the Michael Bay action-drama.

Weller has popped up on a number of tv shows in recent years such as Dexter, Sons Of AnarchyLongmire and 24, to name but a few. However, to those of us over the age of 35, it is best known as the original Robocop from the 1987 film.

The Last Ship has been a solid performer for it’s US network TNT, and recently picked up a 2 season renewal. They originally announced a 13 episode 4th season, then a few weeks later changed that to a 4th and 5th season renewal of 10 episodes each. These are being shot back-to-back to save money, and will air in 2017 & 2018.

The series, which stars Eric DaneAdam BaldwinBridget Regan & Charles Parnell, sees the civilisation start to collapse after a viral outbreak decimates the world. It’s down to the crew of the USS Nathan James to find and deliver the cure, along with maintaining peace amongst the nations.

Season 3 of The Last Ship ends this Sunday, 9th October at 8pm on Sky 1, and sees the crew of the Nathan James going after the regional leaders who led a coup against President Michener.
