Geektown Is 10 Years Old Today!
I don’t know where the time goes! It was 10 years ago today that I made my first post on Geektown, which was actually a post about the new ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ movie… Thankfully, both Geektown and the Marvel movies have come a long way in 10 years!
I first set up this site as a blog for myself and a few friends to post about films, tv shows and games that interested us. I don’t think I’d ever imagine it would grow into the huge site it is today. I certainly didn’t think it would end up being my full time job, which as of April this year, it now is! Millions of people visit us every year to see the latest tv, game and film news, and find the latest tv air date information for their favourite tv shows, and I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU, to everyone that visits us. Without your support, this site would not be possible.
Over the years I’ve had some amazing opportunities to attend interesting events, and interview great people. From the legendary George Takei, who ended up starting my career as a podcaster, to the folk at Channel 4, who put us on tv for the first time this year.
From the great people i’ve met at Comic Cons, some of whom have become friends, and even joined our Geektown Radio podcast, to all the people that work on the site, with a special thank you to Andrew, our TV Editor.
I also want to say thank you to the various podcast co-hosts over the years – Andrew, Matt, Ross, Bex, Mike, Amanda, Adam & Chris – a huge thank you. I really appreciate all your help and support.
Who knows where the next 10 years will take us… Personally I’m hoping for ‘Back To The Future’ style hoverboards… They’re well overdue! Whatever happens, I hope you’ll continue to visit us, and enjoy our content. Visitors are always welcome in Geektown!
Dave has over 20 years experience in the digital industry, and is founder and editor of Geektown. Obviously a huge geek himself, he can often be found in front of the latest tv show or movie, on various video games, or with his head in a comic book.
