Lucifer Picked Up For 3rd Season

by Dave Elliott

US network Fox have decided it’s better the devil you know, and ordered a 3rd season of Lucifer it has been announced today!

Loosely based on the Neil Gaiman & Sam Kieth comic book, Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, more commonly know as The Devil, who grew bored of ruling Hell, so escaped to Earth to run a nightclub in Los Angeles. Whilst there he teams up with Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) to help her solve crimes and punish the wicked.

“Lucifer is one of those rare shows that starts strong out of the gate, and just keeps getting better and better,” commented Fox Entertainment President David Madden. “Tom, Lauren and the entire cast have really made these characters three-dimensional, and the production team – Jerry, Len, Jonathan, Joe and Ildy – is one of the best in the business.”

The show was developed by Tom Kapinos (Californication, Dawson’s Creek), and the latest season has seen the addition of geek fan favourite, Battlestar Galactica’s Tricia Helfer, as Lucifer’s mother, the (ex)wife of God.

Lucifer Season 2, which airs on Amazon Prime in the UK, is currently on it’s 2nd mid-season break… US scheduling is so annoying… But is due back on the 2nd May 2017 with episode 14.

As we left the gang in episode 13, Lucifer had taken a trip to Hell in order to talk a dead man into giving him an antidote to save the currently poisoned Chloe, but finds himself trapped by his own guilt over killing his brother Uriel. His mother Charlotte manages to rescue him and get them back in time to stop the Detective from dying. However, that’s not enough for Lucifer to forgive her for betraying him, and when Chloe goes to find him at Lux, she finds he seems to have closed the business…
