Fox have found the father for their new mutant-based action series it has been announced, as True Blood’s Stephen Moyer will be stepping into the role of dad to two mutant children.

Created by Burn Notice’s Matt Nix, with X-Men’s Bryan Singer directing, the as-yet-untitled drama follows a family who find themselves attacked by a hostile government when the parents discover their two children have mutant powers. Now on the run, the only way to save themselves is by joining an underground network of mutants and fight to survive. Moyer plays the father Reed, who is said to be “an ambitious attorney trying to balance the demands of his job at the DA’s office with his responsibilities to his family.”

He joins Blair Redford (90210, Switched at Birth) who has been cast as the strong-headed Native American leader of the aforementioned underground mutant group, and Jamie Chung (Gotham, Once Upon a Time), who will play Blink (aka Clarice Fong), a mutant, well known to comic book fans, with the powers of teleportation.

Although this series has yet to be actually named, the producers have confirmed it does take place within Fox’s X-Men universe. The show is currently only at pilot stage, but given it’s backed by Singer, and has Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory exec producing, I would say there is a fair chance of it making it to series. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
