Baskets Starring Zach Galifianakis Comes To Fox UK In April

by Dave Elliott

Baskets, the critically acclaimed black comedy, created by Louis C.K. and Zach Galifianakis finally comes to the UK on the 13th April at 10.30pm on FOX UK, the channel have announced.

Chip Baskets (Zach Galifianakis, The Hangover) has a dream… Ever since he was a young boy growing up in Bakersfield, California he has always wanted to be a professional clown.

However, after moving to Paris to pursue his dream, he is forced to confront the possibility that it may never become a reality. His inability to speak a word of French leads to his failure of a course in classical clown training at the highly prestigious Académie de Clown Français.

With his lack of success overseas and mounting financial problems, Chip moves back home only to have to battle with his siblings (including twin brother Dale, also played by Galifianakis) for his mother’s (Louie Anderson, Life With Louie) approval.

A dark, Emmy award-winning comedy produced by Galifianakis himself as well as fellow funnyman Louis C.K. (Louie), Baskets is a show full of as much charm as hilarity.

Across the first season’s ten episodes we see Chip change his clown name from ‘Renoir’ to ‘Baskets’ in his job as a rodeo clown, he struggles in his relationship with his French girlfriend who’s after a Green Card and he forms an unlikely friendship with his insurance agent, Martha (Martha Kelly, The Half Hour).

I’ve been hearing amazing things about this show, particularly about Louie Anderson’s performance as the mother, which went on to win him an Emmy for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.’ The show was also renewed for a 3rd season earlier this month.

Baskets is one not to be missed, and you can catch it on the 13th April at 10.30pm on FOX UK.
