Sorry if the headline seems a bit ‘click-baity’, we try and avoid that wherever possible. In this case, it’s more to do with trying to avoid posting spoilers in the opening of this post! The CW have announced a past cast member will be re-joining Arrow for season 6. Obviously, SPOILERS incoming, so don’t look any further if you don’t want to know!

Still here? Okay then!

The CW have announced, not only that Katie Cassidy would be reprising her role as Black Siren, but also that she would be back as a series regular next season. Whether this means Team Arrow will managed to convince Earth 2’s evil Laurel Lance doppelgänger to turn over a new leaf, or if she’ll stay as a villain for the season, remains to be seen.

“One of the things that most excites us about Arrow is that we go where the story takes us,” commented Marc Guggenheim, Arrow’s exec producer. “Last year, the story took us to the tragic death of Laurel Lance. This year, our midseason finale reintroduced us to Laurel’s doppelgänger, Black Siren. We were so taken by Katie’s fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Katie back to Arrow as Black Siren, though as her appearances on Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow this season show, she never really left the family.”

The original (Earth 1) Laurel Lance was killed last season by Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), but Cassidy has made a number of appearances as various versions of Laurel in season 5. The Black Canary mantle has been passed to Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), a cop with a meta-powered Canary Cry, who moves to Star City and joins Team Arrow. She’s the 3rd Canary on the show, after Laurel took over from her sister Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), who died… and then got better… and is now off saving the timelines with the Legends (I don’t know why people say this comic book stuff is confusing!) ;)

Arrow is currently airing Thursday nights at 9pm on Sky 1.
