Netflix are hungry for more of Drew Barrymore/Timothy Olyphant’s zombie(ish) comedy, Santa Clarita Diet, as they announced production will start in the Summer on Season 2.
Joel (Timothy Olyphant – Justified) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore – Blended) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter Abby (Liv Hewson), until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction… but in a good way.
I have to admit, when I first saw the title of the show, I dismissed it a number of times as being some sort of cooking series. It wasn’t until there was a photo of Drew covered in blood, I realised it wasn’t at all what I thought it was!
Back in January, we had the chance to chat with Cinematographer Todd McMullen, the Director of Photography for Santa Clarita Diet, who discusses the ins and outs of shooting the series, which you can listen to right here!
Santa Clarita Diet stars Drew Barrymore as Sheila Hammond, Timothy Olyphant as Joel Hammond, Liv Hewson as Abby Hammond and Skylar Gisondo as Eric Bemis. The series comes from showrunner Victor Fresco (Better Off Ted, My Name Is Earl).
Season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet will arrive in 2018.
