Sky have given us our first proper look at their epic new drama Jamestown with an extended trailer, and an air date of Friday 5th May at 9pm on Sky 1 & NOW TV.
Coming from Carnival Films, the makers of Downton Abbey, the eight-part drama is set in 1619, Virginia, on what feels like the edge of the world, in the first British colony of Jamestown.
For 12 years, it has been populated only by men, but the settlement is shaken up when the first women, including Alice (Sophie Rundle), Verity (Niamh Walsh) and Jocelyn (Naomi Battrick), land in this breathtaking wilderness. Twisting storylines follow the disruptive new arrivals as they make an immediate impact and are thrust into a new world of love, desire, power and survival.
While love triangles, bitter rivalries and fierce competition cause conflict for the residents, ultimately they are bound together by their resolute will to survive and thrive in their new lives.
The cast also includes Max Beesley (looking very unlike Max Beesley!) as Henry Sharrow, Dean Lennox Kelly as Meredith Rutter, Stuart Martin as Silas Sharrow, Matt Stokoe as James Read, Gwilym Lee, Jason Flemyng, Shaun Dooley, Steven Waddington and Burn Gorman.
Jamestown is written by Bill Gallagher (Lark Rise to Candleford, The Paradise), and will arrive on Sky 1 & NOW TV from Friday 5th May at 9pm.
