Marvel’s The Defenders Gets August Premiere Date!

by Dave Elliott

We finally have an air date for when Marvel’s The Defenders will be joining forces on Netflix – 18th August 2017.

As you can see from the subtle trailer tease above, we see Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Michael Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), all traveling in a lift together at Midland Circle Financial, a front company for The Hand. Jessica spots the security camera, and pulls it off the wall, stopping the video at 08:18:20:17. There’s also an IP address in the top left, which, if you follow it, will take you here.

The Defenders is the (long awaited) bringing together of the 4 initial heroes from the Marvel/Netflix deal. Developed by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez it not only gets the titular characters to reprise their roles, but will also fold in various recurring stars from across all the series. Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), Stick (Scott Glenn), Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville) and of course, Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) aka Night Nurse, are all set to pop up somewhere.

With all these people, you need a pretty big villain, so who better than Sigourney Weaver to take on that role. Not a lot is known about the character right now, other than she’s called Alexandra, and according to Ramirez, she’s “a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.”

We shall find out more when Marvel’s The Defenders streams on to Netflix on the 18th August 2017.
