It’s been a long time coming, but we finally get our first proper look at ‘Marvel’s The Defenders‘, which launches launch globally on Netflix from the 18th August 2017.

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

The trailer gives us our first look at Sigourney Weaver as ‘Alexandra’, the season’s ‘big bad’, who is described by showrunner Marco Ramirez as “a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.” I rather suspect ‘Alexandra’ may actually turn out to be someone far bigger from the Marvel universe, but her exact identity is being kept under wraps for now.

Returning from their parts on the individual Marvel shows are Scott Glenn as Murdock’s mentor ‘Stick’, Simone Missick as ‘Misty Knight’, Deborah Ann Woll as ‘Karen Page’, Elden Henson as ‘Foggy Nelson’, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker’, Carrie-Anne Moss as ‘Jeri Hogarth’, Jessica Henwick as ‘Colleen Wing’, and, of course, Rosario Dawson as ‘Claire Temple’ aka ‘Night Nurse’.

What happens when the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, the ‘smart-ass’ detective, the righteous ex-con, and the kid with the glowing fist all meet? We will find out when Marvel’s The Defenders arrive on Netflix from the 18th August 2017.
