Sadly… ‘Timeless’ Is Not Living Up To It’s Name. Cancelled After 1 Season

UPDATE: NBC Changes It’s Mind And RENEWS ‘TIMELESS’ For Season 2! *happy dance*

Original post below:

Every season, there’s always that one freshman show you really wish had been giving a bit more time. For me it was Timeless, which NBC has just announced won’t be back for a 2nd season…

“Its true,” Tweeted show creator Eric Kripke. “NBC canceled #Timeless. We’re surprised & upset. Get you a longer response later. Odds are long, but trying to find another home.” So there is a glimmer of hope for the show, which is produced by Sony TV, that it may find a new home, but moves like that are quite rare.

Written by Shawn Ryan and Kripke, Timeless starred ER’s Goran Visnijc as Garcia Flynn, a former NSA asset who  a secret state-of-the-art time machine with the intention of changing history. To stop him, the government send Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer), a history professor, programmer Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett), and soldier Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter) back in a prototype machine, but the trio must be careful not to alter history themselves.

It’s a frustrating decision from NBC, as it had been doing reasonable enough ratings, although not quite as well as other shows which had launched in that timeslot. However, it’s the sort of show you feel would have grown its audience had it been given a bit more of a chance by the network.

It was an entertaining, well written, action packed and funny show. I’m sad it didn’t manage to live up to it’s name.

Timeless aired on E4 in the UK.
