It’s All Change For ‘Quantico’ Season 3. Some Cast Out & A New Showrunner.

Quantico will see a bit of a shakeup both in front and behind the camera when it returns for Season 3.

The terrorism drama scraped a last minute renewal from US network ABC back in May but lost its showrunner and a number of the original cast. Code Black’s Michael Seitzman will now be taking the reins behind the scenes after creator Josh Safran stepped down.

Whilst the show will still be filmed in NYC, the writer’s room will be moved to LA, where ‘Code Black’ is filmed, to make it easier for Seitzman to flip between the 2 shows. Both Code Black and Quantico were renewed for 13 episode midseason orders, so they shouldn’t stretch Seitzman too thinly.

On the casting side Priyanka Chopra (Alex), Jake McLaughlin (Ryan), Johanna Braddy (Shelby) and Blair Underwood (Owen) are all locked to return as series regulars. Yasmine Al Massri (Nimah/Raina) and Pearl Thusi (Dayana) will not be back. Aunjanue Ellis (Miranda) and Russell Tovey (Harry) may do guest spots but are not expected to return as regular cast.

Whilst ‘Quantico’ hasn’t been doing huge live numbers for ABC domestically it picked up a reasonable number of viewers on catch-up. It also sells well abroad, which is believed to have saved it from the chopping block. As we have mentioned before, international sales have become a huge driving factor for US networks in the past 18 months, leading to shows with are wholly owned by the network getting renewed over ‘bought in’ content, despite lower US viewing figures.

Quantico‘ Season 2 is currently airing on Alibi in the UK on Thursday nights at 9pm.
