‘Marvel’s New Warriors’ Cast Mister Immortal & Squirrel Girl!

New tv series Marvel’s New Warriors has found it’s final 2 team members it has been announced.

Based on the popular comic book, ‘Marvel’s New Warriors’ is Marvel’s first foray into comedy for a television series. It tells the story of 6 teens/young adults, with powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers. Not quite super, not yet heroes, they team want to make a difference in the world … even if the world isn’t ready.

‘This Is Us’ star Milana Vayntrub has landed the all-important role of Doreen Green aka Squirrel Girl, who, as the name would suggest, has the superpowers of a squirrel! Doreen is a totally empowered fangirl. She is a natural leader – confident and tough, but not innocent. Doreen is bouncy and energetic and her greatest quality is her optimism… She has faith in others and inspires people to believe in themselves. She also takes her pet squirrel, Tippy Toe, everywhere. Her superpowers mean she is acrobatic, strong, can fight, can talk to squirrels.

‘Baby Daddy’s’ Derek Theler will take the role of Craig Hollis aka Mister Immortal. He’s described as the team troublemaker and lothario… Craig is kind of like “The Most Interesting Man Alive,” except he’s more cocky than confident and at times, charmingly grumpy. Although Craig’s superpower (being immortal… so he says…) seems amazing, he hasn’t made use of it at all. He’s lazy and figures if he has all the time in the world to learn how to fight, what’s the rush?

These latest editions join the previously announced cast of Jeremy Tardy (‘Dear White People’, ‘War Dogs’) as Dwayne Taylor/Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy (‘Austin & Ally’, ‘Just Kidding’) as Robbie Baldwin/Speedball, Matthew Moy (‘2 Broke Girls’, ‘Steven Universe’) as Zack Smith/Microbe, and Kate Comer (‘The Comeback’) as Deborah Fields/Debrii.

“I am thrilled beyond belief to be working with this incredible group of actors,” commented showrunner Kevin Biegel (‘Cougar Town’, ‘Enlisted’, ‘Scrubs’) “They are funny, sincere, eager, charming and perfectly embody these characters. It’ll be a blast and an honour to create this show with each of them.”

Marvel’s New Warriors was picked up straight to series by US network Freeform for a 10 episode run in 2018. It’s still too early for a UK air date or broadcaster, but we’ll update you when we know more!
