Netflix has renewed its wrestling comedy GLOW for a 10-episode Season 2 the streaming service has announced.

Inspired by the real story of the 1980’s female wrestling league, the series, set in Los Angeles and showcasing big hair and body slams, tells the fictionalized story of an out of work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers.

Netflix has had a number of cancellations this season, having dropped ‘The Get Down’, ‘Bloodline’‘Girlboss’, and ‘Sense8’, although they did give a slight reprieve to that last one to allow the Wachowskis to send off the series with a 2-hour finale movie. Despite reports of the streaming service running a $20 billion deficit, I don’t think they have too much to worry about, as they have a number of shows still knocking it out of the park. ‘The Crown’ recently landed 13 Emmy nominations, ‘Stranger Things’ landed 19, ‘Master of None’ got 8, ‘House of Cards’ got 6, and ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ landed 5 nods.

‘GLOW’ stars Alison Brie (‘Community’, ‘Mad Men’), Betty Gilpin (‘Nurse Jackie’, ‘Fringe’), Sydelle Noel (‘Arrow’, ‘Black Panther’), Britney Young (‘Those Who Can’t’) and Marc Maron (‘The Life & Times of Tim’, ‘Metalocalypse’), and is written by Liz Flahive (‘Homeland’) and Carly Mensch (‘Orange is the New Black’), who also serve as showrunners. Jenji Kohan & Tara Herrmann (‘Orange is the New Black’) are executive producers.

GLOW‘ is set to return for a 2nd season in 2018.
