Sky 1 Sets A UK Air Date For ‘The Last Ship’ Season 4

by Dave Elliott

The Last Ship will return for its Season 4 on Sky 1 from Sunday, 27th August 2017 at 9pm the channel has announced.

The dramatic events at the end of Season 3 saw Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) walk away from the USS Nathan James, leaving it in the capable hands of Captain Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin). As we pick up with Season 4, the threat from ‘Red Flu’ may be over, but they now have a new problem – the virus has jumped from people to infecting crops instead…

This new ‘Red Rust’ virus is killing off all edible plant life, except for one strain of Ancient African Palm Seed. As this is ‘The Last Ship’, they can’t just head down to their local garden centre and buy some more. These rare seeds are under the control of Dr Paul Vellek (Peter Weller), a world-renowned scientist in genetic modification and plant biotechnology(and seemingly, a bit of a dick), so of course he doesn’t want to share with the group.

Cue a reluctant Chandler donning his hero pants (along with fetching new beard) once again, and rejoin the crew of the Nathan James.

Other returning cast includes Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Jocko Sims, Bren Foster, Bridget Regan, Charles Parnell and Kevin Michael Martin.

‘The Last Ship’ has already been renewed for a 5th season, which was shot back-to-back with season 4, apart from a small break which was taken to allow lead actor Eric Dane to seek treatment for issues relating to his battle with depression. Both the 4th and 5th season consist of 10 episodes.

The Last Ship‘ Season 4 comes to Sky 1 from Sunday, 27th August 2017 at 9pm.
