Amazon Studios and BBC Studios have found their leads for their upcoming adaptation of Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens it has been announced – Michael Sheen & David Tennant.

For those unfamiliar with the story, it’s very Pratchett & Gaiman…

According to ‘The Nice And Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch’, (the world’s only completely accurate book of prophecies), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except for Aziraphale (Sheen), a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley (Tennant), a fast-living demon – both of whom have lived among Earth’s mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle – are not actually looking forward to the coming war… And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist…

Michael Sheen is known for his work on the ‘Underworld’ films, ‘The Damned United’, ‘The Queen’, ‘Frost/Nixon’, and has most recently been playing Dr. William Masters in ‘Masters of Sex’. Not that I really need to explain who David Tennant is to our audience, but he is, of course, the star of ‘Broadchurch’, ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘Doctor Who’ and the voice of Scrooge McDuck in the upcoming revival of ‘DuckTales’.

Neil Gaiman is the writer of novels such as ‘Neverwhere’, ‘Coraline’, ‘Eternity’s Wheel’ and ‘American Gods’, along with the comic book series ‘The Sandman’. Terry Pratchett wrote various books over his lifetime, but is best known for his 41 brilliant Discworld novels. Gaiman is writing the adaptation for the screen.

“Good Omens has always been one of my favourite books, and it’s hugely exciting not just to be able to bring it to life, but to do so with scripts from Neil Gaiman himself,” commented Chris Sussman, Head of Comedy, BBC Studios. “It feels like a good time to be making a comedy about an impending global apocalypse.”

Good Omens is a co-production between Amazon Studios and BBC Studios. It will air in 2018, first on Amazon Prime worldwide, then later on the BBC.
