TV Adaptation Of 2008 Film ‘Jumper’ In Development By Jamie Bell

We seem to be posting one of these daily at the moment, but Hollywood has another reboot in the works. This one is the 2008 movie ‘Jumper’, which starred Hayden Christensen & Jamie Bell, and it’s being developed as a tv show by writer/director Julian Simpson (‘Doctor Who’, ‘New Tricks’), and Bell himself.

‘Jumper’ starred Hayden Christensen as a young man able to teleport himself to any place on earth. After discovering he has a genetic anomaly that allows him to teleport wherever he wants, teenager David Rice (Christensen) embarks on a hedonistic lifestyle of girls, money, and travel, indulging his every whim and using his power to fund his desires. Unfortunately, this draws the attention of the “Paladins”, a secret society of religious extremists who are sworn to track down and kill the “Jumpers”.

In the original film, Bell played Griffin, another Jumper who has been tracking and killing off the Paladins to avenge the death of his parents and is hell bent on taking out their leader, Roland (Samuel L. Jackson).

This tv version of the film is being developed by Simpson and Bell for Lionsgate and New Regency, and might see Bell reprise his role from the movie.

Jamie Bell first shot to fame as ‘Billy Elliott’, but has gone on to star in movies and tv shows such as ‘Fantastic Four’, ‘Snowpiercer’, ‘King Kong’, and ‘TURN: Washington’s Spies’. Julian Simpson has written and directed episodes of ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Spooks’, ‘Hotel Babylon’ and ‘New Tricks’.

‘Jumper’ is still very much in development at the moment, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
