E4 Picks Up ‘Young Sheldon’ For The UK!

E4 will be the UK home for Young Sheldon, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ prequel which follows the life of a 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper as he struggles to be understood by his family, classmates and neighbours, Channel 4 has announced today.

The 13 x 30 min, highly anticipated series stars Iain Armitage (‘Big Little Lies’), Zoe Perry (‘Scandal’, ‘The Family’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’), Lance Barber (‘The Comeback’, ‘Black-ish’, ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’), Annie Potts (‘GCB’, ‘Designing Women’, ‘Love & War’) Montana Jordan and Raegan Revord (‘Modern Family’, ‘Grace and Frankie’). Jim Parsons (‘The Big Bang Theory’, ‘The Normal Heart’) narrates as Adult Sheldon.

For 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, it isn’t easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn’t always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve young Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him!

Series 10 of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ on E4 attracted a massive average audience of 2.4 million viewers an episode and a 9.5% share of the viewing audience – more than double the channel’s slot average. This impressive performance makes it E4’s biggest show of the year for all individuals as well as E4’s key demographic of 16-34-year-olds.

Young Sheldon is created by Chuck Lorre & Steven Molaro. Executive producers are Lorre, Molaro, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak. The first episode was directed and executive produced by Jon Favreau. Produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, the new comedy series is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Young Sheldon‘ will come to E4 in 2018.
