TV Reboot Of ‘First Wives Club’ In The Works At Paramount

Once again we bring you the latest instalment of ‘Hollywood is out of original ideas’ – Paramount Network is working on a tv reboot of 90’s film ‘The First Wives Club’ it has been announced.

The half-hour comedy series will be written by Tracy Oliver, co-writer of ‘Girls Trip’, and follows 3 women who come together after their marriages fall apart. The trio find strength in their sisterhood… And are also out for a bit of revenge… Like the original film, which starred Diane Keaton, Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn, the show will be set in New York.

This isn’t the first time Paramount has tried to move the property from their film archives to TV. Last year a version of the series made it to pilot stage for TV Land with a different writer. It was rejected by the network but put back into redevelopment by Paramount.

Karen Rosenfeldt (‘The Twilight Saga’, ‘The Devil Wears Prada’), who also was behind the TV Land pilot, is set to exec produce the series. No cast are yet attached.
