‘League of Gentlemen’ Returns To BBC Two In December
‘League of Gentlemen‘ will be back on the 18th, 19th and 20th December 2017 it has been announced.
League of Gentlemener Reece Shearsmith took to his Twitter account yesterday to announce the 3 brand new specials will arrive just before Christmas, as Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss, and Steve Pemberton return to Royston Vasey for the first time since their stage production in 2005. The 3 specials mark the twentieth anniversary of the series at the BBC.
“The lovely thing is it’s born of wanting to do it not having to do it,” commented Gatiss in a BBC interview. “We’re not wanting to feel like a ’90s band going back on the road, like Bros or something. We’ve had a really good laugh. You have to be relaxed to feel funny – to feel that you can just do what you like.”
In the three new episodes, local residents will rise up to battle “administrative annihilation” after boundary changes threaten to wipe the town off the map.
Since ‘The League Of Gentlemen’ ended, Gatiss has gone on to huge success both in front and behind the camera, Along writing ‘Sherlock’ and ‘Doctor Who’, he’s starred in ‘Game Of Thrones’, ‘Gunpowder’, ‘Taboo’, and ‘Wolf Hall’, and is also due to see Peter Capaldi bow out of his role as the 12th Doctor in the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special – “Twice Upon a Time”.
Pemberton went on star in shows such as ‘Whitechapel’ and ‘Happy Valley’, as well as co-creating the massively popular ‘Benidorm’, and re-teamed with Shearsmith for ‘Psychoville’ and ‘Inside No. 9’. Shearsmith also appeared in ‘Chasing Shadows’, ‘Catterick’, and ‘Psychobitches’.
‘League of Gentlemen‘ returns to BBC Two on the 18th, 19th and 20th December 2017.
