5Spike Picks Up History Channel’s ‘SIX’ To Air In The UK In Jan 2018

Those of you that like Navy SEAL dramas might want to check out 5Spike (previously known as ‘Spike’… Now 5Spike, because… branding…) in January 2018, as they have picked up US History channel’s SIX.

The action drama series chronicles the daily lives and operations of the US Naval Special Warfare Development Group, commonly known as SEAL Team Six – one of the US Armed Forces’ primary counter-terrorism units. While on a mission in Afghanistan in 2014, US Navy SEAL troop leader Rip Taggart (Walton Goggins – ‘The Shield’, ‘Justified’) makes a questionable decision which has significant repercussions.

Two years later, Rip is disbanded from his team and is now working as a private security contractor in Nigeria helping to protect an all-girls school. While on assignment, Rip is captured by the terrorist organisation Boko Haram, which prompts Rip’s former squadmates within SEAL Team Six to try and locate him and then attempt a rescue.

The show was created with the help of a former Special Operations Forces team member to ensure authenticity and accuracy while preserving the secrecy of classified missions.

Back in November, we spoke to production designer Erik Carlson about his work on ‘SIX’, which you can listen to right here.

The provisional UK premiere date for ‘SIX‘ on 5Spike is Tuesday, 16th January 2018 at 10pm. We’ll update you if anything changes.
