Netflix Casts Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima & Giorgia Whigham In Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ Season 2
Jon Bernthal will have 3 new people to play with when Marvel’s ‘The Punisher‘ returns to Netflix for Season 2. Today the streaming service announced Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima & Giorgia Whigham would be joining the cast for its 2nd outing.
According to Deadline, who broke the story, Stewart will play John Pilgrim, a man whose calm exterior belies a ruthless interior. Despite having left behind a life of violence, circumstances will force him to use his old skills and bring him into Frank Castle’s world.
If you’re a fan of ‘Shooter’, which also airs on Netflix in the UK, you may recognise him as Chechen master sniper Solotov from season 2. He also plays William LaMontagne Jr. in ‘Criminal Minds’ and popped up in Greg Berlanti’s proto-superhero series (pre-Arrowverse) ‘No Ordinary Family’.
Lima will is playing Krista Dumont, a smart, compassionate, and driven psychotherapist for military veterans. Floriana Lima stars as Miranda Riggs in ‘Lethal Weapon’ and played Bridey Cruz in ‘The Family’, but is probably best known to Geektowners as Maggie Sawyer in ‘Supergirl’.
Whigham will play Amy Bendix, a street-smart grifter with a mysterious past. Giorgia starred as Beth in the ‘Scream’ tv series, and has popped up in ‘The Orville’, Hugh Laurie’s ‘Chance’ and ’13 Reasons Why’.
After doing some digging it would seem that only the character of Amy Bendix has a name connected to The Punisher comic book, and even then, was a minor part of one story. Either the other two characters are made up for the tv show, or they may morph into a more well-known part. We’ll have to wait and see.
Season 2 also expects to see the return of Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, and Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle.
There’s no news yet on an air date for ‘The Punisher‘ Season 2, although it’s expected to be 2019. We’ll let you know when we have more.
