Sky Atlantic has set a UK premiere date for Frankie Shaw’s raw and honest semi-autobiographical comedy, ‘SMILF‘ it has been announced.
The show stars Shaw (‘Good Girls Revolt, Mr Robot’) as Bridgette Bird, a smart, scrappy 20-something girl in South Boston who shares her tiny studio apartment and a bed with her two-year-old son Larry. She’s an aspiring actress who struggles to make ends meet, and to balance her hopes and dreams with the realities of being a young, single mother. The show takes on motherhood, co-parenting, and female sexuality through a raw and unfiltered lens.
Shaw not only stars in the half-hour comedy series but also writes and directs the show. Rosie O’Donnell co-stars as Tutu, Bridgette’s tough, stubborn and occasionally terrifying mother. Miguel Gomez (‘The Strain’), Samara Weaving (‘Home and Away’), Raven Goodwin (‘Being Mary Jane’), and Blake Clark (‘Toy Story’ movies, ‘Boy Meets World’) also star.
In the first episode, Bridgette attempts to come to terms, in her own unique way, with the knowledge that her baby’s father, Ravi (Gomez), is seeing a hot sports reporter. As insecurities creep in, she looks up an old acquaintance to get an MOT, of sorts.
‘SMILF‘ airs in the UK from Wednesday, 14th March 2018 at 10pm on Sky Atlantic & NOW TV.
