Nina Dobrev To Star In New CBS Comedy Pilot ‘Fam’

Nina Dobrev is trading in vampires for laughs as she takes a new role in the CBS comedy pilot ‘Fam’.

The new multi-camera comedy comes from comes from ‘The Newsroom’ writer Corinne Kingsbury and follows Clem (Dobrev) a young woman who dreams of an upstanding life with her new fiancé Jay. After years of being a bit of a “hot mess”, she’s worked hard to get her life back on track, and finally feels things are going how they should be. As part of portraying this “best version of herself”, she’s told everyone her estranged father, Freddy Banks, is dead… except he’s very much alive… When her train-wreck of a younger half-sister Shannon (Odessa Adlon – ‘Nashville’) shows up trying to escape their train-wreck of a father, her lie is going to be exposed to everyone, putting her “perfect” life with Jay and her upstanding in-laws to be in serious jeopardy.

Dobrev, as I’m sure many of you will know, played Elena Gilbert on 6 seasons of ‘The Vampire Diaries’, returning for a guest appearance in the show’s finale. ‘Fam’ would mark her first return to network television since her stint of TVD ended. In the intervening years, she played Becky in ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’, Marlo in the ‘Flatliners’ remake, and starred in the indie movies ‘Crashpad’, ‘Dog Days’ and ‘Departures’.

‘Fam’ is currently only a pilot at the moment, but we’ll update you if it should go to series.
