‘Shades of Blue’ To End With Season 3

J-Lo’s time as a cop is coming to an end. US network NBC has announced Season 3 of Shades of Blue will be it’s last.

The show stars Jennifer Lopez as Harlee Santos, a charismatic single mother and resourceful detective at the heart of a tight-knit crew of Brooklyn detectives. They’re led by enigmatic Lt. Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta) who often leads the team to step outside the limitations of the law in order to effectively protect their precinct and their own. Harlee navigates her fractured relationship with Wozniak as she struggles to conceal her deepest secret – she killed her daughter’s father.

The also cast includes Drea de Matteo (‘Sopranos’, ‘Sons of Anarchy’), Dayo Okeniyi (‘Terminator: Genisys,’ ‘Hunger Games’), Vincent Laresca (‘The Aviator,’ ‘The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift’), Hampton Fluker (‘Aquarius,’ ‘The Blind Side’), Sarah Jeffery (‘Rogue,’ ‘Wayward Pines’) and Gino Anthony Pesi (‘Dallas,’ ‘The Vampire Diaries’), with Anna Gunn (‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘Gracepoint’) is a recurring guest star.

It seems the show ending might have more to do with the story coming to a natural conclusion and Lopez’s schedule rather than ratings. She is currently working with NBC on reality show ‘World of Dance’, has a number of film & tv projects in the works, and a Las Vegas residency. “We crafted a poetic three-season arc on how Harlee’s journey ends, which is true redemption,” she commented on the shows ending. “The way only Harlee could have done it – the hard way, the road less traveled.”

Shades of Blue‘ airs on Sky Living in the UK and is expected to return for its final season in Spring 2018 (TBC).
