Netflix has released a teaser trailer and a May premiere date for Season 2 of their comedy-drama ‘Dear White People‘ today.
Set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions bubble just below the surface, ‘Dear White People’ satirises “post-racial” America and weaves together the universal story of finding one’s own identity and forging a wholly unique path.
Season 1 of the show picked up where the acclaimed 2014 film by the same name left off and followed a group of Winchester University’s students of colour as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof) and sometimes misguided activism in the millennial age.
Season 2 is set to take a look at cultural appropriation, sex and gender norms, racist bots, conspiracy theories, Jesus, weed, The Sunken Place and way more. Through an absurdist lens, ‘Dear White People’ utilizes biting irony, self-deprecation and sometimes brutal honesty to hold up a mirror to the issues plaguing society today, all the while leading with laughter.
‘Dear White People‘ Season 2 lands on Netflix UK from Friday, 4th May 2018.
