‘Billions’ Renewed For 4th Season

Great (if not unexpected) news! Billions has been renewed for Season 4 by its US network Showtime.

‘Billions’ stars Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti in a duo of tour-de-force performances as shady hedge fund manager Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod and equally shady District U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades. The show landed it’s highest-rated premiere when Season 3 launched in the US on Showtime and currently sits in the No. 2 slot, just behind ‘Homeland’, of the network’s highest-rated dramas.

Over this side of the channel, episode 2 of the current series, which is airing on Sky Atlantic in the UK, drew it’s 4th highest rating for the show since it began, up 40k viewers from the Season 3 premiere. The highest rated episode of the entire run across all seasons still sits with the Season 1 premiere (as you would probably expect) but seeing Season 3 growing week on week is great news for Sky.

“Billions continues to build its audience as it explores the heights of power and wealth even as it plumbs the depths of the human psyche,” commented Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks. “Brian and David are gifted, propulsive storytellers and we can’t wait to see where they and their extraordinary cast will take us in season 4.”

Season 1 of ‘Billions’ saw Axe Capital nearly destroyed by Rhoades’ attacks, and Season 2 saw Axe hit back, using his considerable resources to exact revenge on the Machiavellian U.S. Attorney. Season 3 sees Chuck and Bobby find themselves in a world that has shifted on its axis. Both men are still determined to destroy the other, but must also battle for their own survival amid new forces and powerful enemies. Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff) Chuck’s wife and Axe’s performance coach, is all in for both of them, an uneasy and dangerous position for her, and one that ultimately puts her to a decision that could alter the direction of her life irrevocably.

The cast also includes Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Asia Kate Dillon, and Jeffrey DeMunn. In addition, Season 3 sees the legendary John Malkovich join in a guest role as Russian billionaire Grigor Andolov.

Billions‘ Season 3 is currently airing Thursday nights at 10pm on Sky Atlantic.
