’13 Reason Why’ Season 2 Gets May UK Air Date

by Dave Elliott

The brilliant and compelling 13 Reason Why returns for its 2nd Season this May Netflix has announced.

Based on the best-selling book Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, Season 1 of the tv series followed teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returned home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), his classmate and crush—who tragically died from suicide two weeks earlier. On the tapes, Hannah explains that there are 13 reasons why she decided to end her life.

Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of our characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death concealed. A series of ominous polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.

If you saw the 1st Season you will know the show can be a really tough watch in places, touching on issues of teen bullying, suicide and sexual assault. Netflix is taking this very seriously, and in preparation for the launch of Season 2, have updated their 13ReasonsWhy.info website with updated discussion guides, and a new discussion series – a set of videos where cast address issues in the series, and contact information for support groups.

If you’re affected by any of these issues, please know that you are not alone and you can get through it. There are people out there who will help you. Don’t stay silent, please reach out to any of any of the many groups out there such as the Samaritans (116 123) or Childline (0800 1111) for free.

13 Reason Why‘ Season 2 premieres on Netflix UK and worldwide from Friday, 18th May 2018. You can find the show on Netflix at netflix.com/13reasonswhy.
