NBC Rescues ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ For A 6th Season!

It’s not often we get to praise NBC for something they did, but this decision deserves high praise indeed. After being unceremoniously dumped by Fox on Thursday, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has a new home in the US on NBC.

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is actually produced by NBC’s sister company Universal TV, so the move makes sense. “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” commented Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”

The last-minute revival comes after 48hrs of amazing support from B99 fans across social media expressing their outrage at the decision. Amongst them were a number of celebrities including as director Guillermo del Toro, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Mark Hamill.

Created by the ‘Parks and Rec’ pairing of Dan Goor and Michael Schur ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ stars Andy Samberg as Det. Jake Peralta, a talented but carefree detective at Brooklyn’s 99th Precinct. Andre Braugher plays the captain of the precinct, whilst Terry Crews plays Holt’s next-in-command – a muscle-bound human mountain who loves nothing more than his three little daughters, except for a fresh carton of full-fat yoghurt. Since it’s debut on September 2013, the show has won Golden Globes, Emmys, and Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

For those of you wondering if this effects us over on this side of the pond, it doesn’t. E4’s deal is with the show’s international distributor NBCUniversal Television Distribution, not Fox, so it should continue to air on the same channel. The new 6th season will consist of 13-episode’s and will air in 2019.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘ airs on E4 in the UK.

Awesome news! This is one of my go-to shows when I wanna kill 20 minutes! I’m one of those people the big wigs would blame for cancelling it in the first place so very pleased!
