MCM Comic Con: The Voice Actors – Batman, Bender, Winnie The Pooh, South Park, Solid Snake
Whilst at MCM Comic Con London last weekend we not only got chance to speak to a bunch of on-screen acting talent, but also a number of people who provide voices for some of TV, gaming and films most beloved characters.
These included Kevin Conroy who, to most people, is known as THE voice of Batman; The hilarious John DiMaggio who proved the voice of Bender in ‘Futurama’; Jim Cummings, who is as lovable as the characters he voices – Winnie The Pooh & Tigger; April Stewart, who provides so many voices on ‘South Park’ it’s hard to keep track; And lastly David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake in the ‘Metal Gear’ games.
Kevin Conroy – The Voice Of Batman
Kevin Conroy is an American actor and voice actor who is best known for being THE voice of Batman for the last 26 years. He first started voicing the Dark Knight in Bruce Timm’s 1992 show ‘Batman: The Animated Series’, but has become the guy you go to if you want a Batman vocal performance. He went on to voice the character for the ‘Batman: Arkham’ games, ‘Batman Beyond’, ‘Justice League Action’, ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’, ‘DC Universe Online’ and many other projects.
John DiMaggio – The Voice Of Futurama’s Bender
John DiMaggio is a prolific voice actor whose work can be seen in a huge array of TV, film and video games. He has provided voices on ‘Johnny Bravo’, ‘The Powerpuff Girls’, ‘Teen Titans’, ‘Ben 10’, ‘Avengers Assemble’, ‘Zootopia’, ‘Wreck-It Ralph’, ‘Gears of War’, ‘Crash Bandicoot’, ‘Halo’, and hundreds of other projects. However, the voice he is best known for is Bender, the sociopathic robot from Matt Groening’s animated series ‘Futurama’.
Jim Cummings – The Voice Of Winnie The Pooh & Tigger
Jim Cummings is another prolific voice actor and a true voice artist legend with over 400 credits to his name. He’s provided voices for ‘Star Wars: Rebels’, ‘DuckTales’, ‘Puss in Boots’, ‘Spider-Man’, ‘Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures’, ‘Transformers’, ‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates’, ‘The Penguins of Madagascar’, ‘Adventure Time’ and hundreds of other characters. The most beloved voices he provides though come in the form of a cuddly bear and his hyperactive tiger friend – Winnie The Pooh & Tigger. You can hear him reprise those roles in ‘Christopher Robin’, starring Ewan McGregor & Hayley Atwell which lands in UK cinema on Friday, 17th August 2018.
April Stewart – South Park’s Wendy Testaburger, Liane Cartman, Sharon Marsh (and many many more!)
April Stewart is one of the primary actresses for ‘South Park’, voicing a massive collection of regular and one-off characters including (but not limited to) Liane Cartman, Sharon Marsh, Carol McCormick, Shelley Marsh, Mayor McDaniels, and Principal Victoria. It would literally take up most of this post to list all the voices she does.
David Hayter – X-Men Screenwriter & Voice Of Metal Gear’s Solid Snake
David Hayter is a voice/screen actor and screenwriter who is probably best known for providing the voice for Solid Snake and Naked Snake in the ‘Metal Gear’ gaming franchise. He has also an established screenwriter having written the scripts for ‘X-Men’, ‘X2’ and Zack Snyder’s ‘Watchmen’ movie.
