Sky Atlantic Sets August UK Premiere Date For ‘Succession’

by Dave Elliott

Sky Atlantic has set an August UK TV air date for HBO’s bitingly funny, provocative new drama Succession, from ‘Peep Show’s’ Jesse Armstrong, starring Brian Cox (the actor one, not the scientist one!)

On his 80th birthday, media magnate Logan Roy (Cox), whose imminent retirement was thought to be a given, shocks his family by announcing he’s staying on indefinitely as CEO of his huge media conglomerate, Waystar/Royco. The news comes as a heavy blow to his son and heir apparent, Kendall, and tempers begin to flare among Logan’s other children as they each question their father’s intentions.

Exploring themes of power, politics, money and family, Succession is an often outrageous account of the pitfalls of being part of a wealthy, but emotionally challenged, family dynasty.

Alongside Cox, the cast includes Alan Ruck (‘The Exorcist’, ‘Spin City’, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’) as Logan’s eldest son, Connor; Jeremy Strong (‘Molly’s Game’, ‘Masters of Sex’) as the second-oldest son, Kendall; Sarah Snook (‘Black Mirror’, ‘The Beautiful Lie’) as youngest child, Siobhan “Shiv” Roy; Kieran Culkin (‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’, ‘Fargo’) as Logan’s son Roman; And Matthew Macfadyen (‘Spooks’, ‘Frost/Nixon’) as Shiv’s boyfriend Tom Wamsgans.

The show is created by Oscar and WGA nominee Jesse Armstrong (‘Peep Show’, ‘In the Loop’), with the pilot written by Armstrong and directed by Oscar-winner Adam McKay (‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’, ‘The Big Short’).

Succession‘ premieres on Sky Atlantic on Thursday, 2nd August 2018 at 9pm. The first 9 episodes of will be
available to watch on demand on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV from the 2nd. The final episode will be available from 6th August, after its US premiere.
