Netflix Announces ‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ Season 2 Coming In September With New Trailer

by Dave Elliott

It seems we will be getting the new instalment of Marvel’s Iron Fist sooner rather than later, as Netflix sets a September premiere date for Season 2.

Season 1 saw Billionaire Danny Rand (Finn Jones) return to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

It would be fair to say, Iron Fist’s first outing didn’t exactly set the world on fire, and got a very mixed reaction from fans and critics. They did go on to redeem the character somewhat when he appeared in team-up series ‘The Defenders’, and when he dropped by ‘Luke Cage’ in the most recent season. Looking at the trailer above, it seems they may have managed to… ahem… iron out… those issues from Season 1…

Season 2 will introduce some new people, in front of, and behind the cameras. Raven Metzner, writer/producer on ‘Falling Skies’, and writer, producer & showrunner on ‘Sleepy Hollow’, has taken over as showrunner from Scott Buck. On the casting side, ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ and ‘Black Mirror’ actress Alice Eve joins the series as Typhoid Mary, a mentally ill mutant with psionic and telekinesis abilities. Jessica Henwick (Colleen), Tom Pelphrey (Ward), Jessica Stroup (Joy), Sacha Dhawan (Davos), and Simone Missick (Misty Knight) are all set to return.

Marvel’s Iron Fist‘ premieres on Netflix on Friday, 7th September 2018.
