Netflix new Tony Danza & Josh Groban led cop dramedy ‘The Good Cop‘ has landed a trailer and a September release date the streaming service announced today.
Tony Danza plays Tony Sr. (aka Big Tony), a lovable yet not exactly honourable, former NYPD officer who never followed the rules. He lives with his son, Tony Jr. (TJ), Josh Groban, a brilliant, straight-laced NYPD detective who makes a point of always following the rules while solving Brooklyn’s toughest cases. This “odd couple” become unofficial partners as Tony Sr. offers his overly-cautious son blunt, street-wise advice.
Many people will remember Tony Danza from his role as live-in housekeeper, Tony, in the smash hit US sitcom ‘Who’s the Boss?’. On tv he’s also starred in ‘The Practice’, ‘Family Law’, and, most recently, dramedy ‘There’s… Johnny!’ On film, he starred in Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s screenwriting and directorial debut, ‘Don Jon’, and dark comedy ‘Aftermath’ with Anthony Michael Hall.
Josh Groban is probably best known for his multi-award winning music career at this point. However, he has popped up acting in a number of projects over the years such as ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’, ‘Life in Pieces’, ‘The Crazy Ones’ and ‘The Office US’. ‘The Good Cop’ marks his first major role in an ongoing series.
Joining Groban and Groban are Monica Barbaro (‘Chicago P.D./Justice’, ‘UnREAL’), Isiah Whitlock Jr, (‘The Mist’, ‘Veep’, ‘The Wire’) and Bill Kottkamp (‘Fist Fight’, ‘Father of the Year’).
‘The Good Cop‘ Premieres On Netflix from Friday, 21st September 2018.
