‘13 Reasons Why’ star Katherine Langford is heading back to Netflix as she takes the lead role in Frank Miller & Tom Wheeler’s upcoming Arthurian Legend series Cursed.

Based on the upcoming book of the same name, ‘Cursed’ is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue (Langford), a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.

Langford landed a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Hannah Baker, the ill-fated driving force behind the first two seasons of teen drama ‘13 Reasons Why’. She has since popped up in Netflix series ‘Love, Simon’, and also lent her voice to the ‘Robot Chicken’ cast.

Netflix has also announced Zetna Fuentes (‘Jane the Virgin’, ‘Jessica Jones’) will kick off the 10-episode run as director and exec produce, alongside Miller and Wheeler. Wheeler is serving as writer and showrunner for the series.

Along with the Netflix series, Wheeler is penning a YA companion book, for which Miller will supply the illustrations. Frank Miller is the acclaimed comic book artist & writer behind graphic novels such as ‘The Dark Knight Returns’, ‘Sin City’, and ‘300’. Tom Wheeler is the writer/producer behind films such as ‘Puss in Boots’, ‘The Lego Ninjago Movie’ and tv series ‘The Cape’. This is one of those extremely rare occurrences when the people behind the book are not only writing the screen adaptation but are actually writing both projects at the same time.

Netflix hasn’t set a premiere date for Cursed yet, however the companion book from publishers Simon & Schuster is due our in Autumn 2019, so its fairly likely the tv show will probably premiere around the same time. We’ll let you know when we have more concrete information.
