Now TV & Sky Atlantic has announced Season 1 of Jim Carrey’s comedy-drama ‘Kidding‘ will premiere in the UK this November.
In his first serialised role in over two decades, and his first collaboration with director Michel Gondry since ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’, Jim Carrey stars in a new comedy-drama as children’s TV star Mr Pickles (or Jeff, off-screen). He’s an American icon, a beacon of kindness and wisdom to countless impressionable young minds, and the anchor of a multimillion-dollar branding empire. But when Jeff’s family begins to implode, he finds no fairy tale, fable or puppet will guide him through the crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: A kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.
Carrey is joined by Frank Langella (‘Frost/Nixon’, ‘The Americans’) as Seb, Jeff’s executive producer, who is so concerned with the star’s mental state he’s working on how to continue ‘Mr. Pickles Puppet Time’ without the titular “Mr Pickles”. Other cast includes Catherine Keener (‘Being John Malkovich’, ‘Capote’)as head puppet maker Deirdre, Judy Greer (‘It’s Always Sunny…’, ‘Casual’) as Jill, Jeff’s estranged wife, Cole Allen (‘Professor Isle’s Laboratory’) who plays their son, Will.
Showtime, who commissioned the series in the US has already renewed it for a 2nd Season.
‘Kidding‘ Season 1 premieres from Thursday, 29th November 2018 (time TBC) on Now TV & Sky Atlantic.
