Netflix has handed out a series order to I Am Not Okay With This, an adaptation of Charles Forsman’s comic book of the same name, the streaming service has announced.

The dark coming-of-age comedy comes from Jonathan Entwistle, who adapted Charles Forsman’s ‘The End of the F***king World’ into a series for Channel 4 & Netflix, alongside Shawn Levy, exec producer of ‘Stranger Things’ and writer Christy Hall. The story follows a teenage girl navigating the trials and tribulations of high school, all the while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and… mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken from deep within her.

Hall will serve as the writer with Entwistle directing the series. The duo are credited as co-creators and will exec produce alongside Levy, with Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry also producing for his 21 Laps Entertainment production company.

A collected trade paperback of Forsman’s original ‘I Am Not Okay With This’ micro-comic book was published back in 2017 and is available here. The tv adaptation will consist of 8-episodes.

Netflix hasn’t released a premiere date for I Am Not Okay With This yet, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
