First Trailer Lands For ‘Spider-man: Far From Home’

by Dave Elliott

Marvel has released the first trailer for the next installment of you friendly neighbourhood wall-crawler, ‘Spider-man: Far From Home’ which arrives in cinemas on the 5th July 2019.

Whilst you might have thought, due to the events in the ‘Avengers’ franchise, the “far from home” might be a reference to being stuck on an alien world, but that’s not the case. Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is heading off on a school trip to Venice… only to have it hijacked by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), when a threat arises. That threat would seem to come in the form of Jake Gyllenhaal as Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, complete with crazy dome headed outfit and purple cape!

Although we don’t know for sure, it seems likely ‘Spider-man: Far From Home’ will be after the events of ‘Avengers: End Game’. That means Peter becomes less dusty by the end of that movie, but we rather knew that would be the case, as Sony wouldn’t be too happy with Marvel killing off one of their star properties. Notably absent from the trailer is Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark. Whether that is due to him not making it out alive of the next MCU film, or just because they don’t want to give away what happens in that movie remains to be seen.

Returning cast includes Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jacob Batalon as best friend Ned, Tony Revolori as rival Flash Thompson, Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones, Angourie Rice as classmate Betty, along with Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes, aka Vulture. Other MCU characters making an appearance include Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill.

‘Spider-man: Far From Home’ premieres in cinemas from the 5th July 2019.
