Netflix Renews ‘Grace and Frankie’ For Season 6

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has given a 6th season renewal to Grace and Frankie just days before Season 5 lands on the streaming service.

The comedy sees Jane Fonda (“Grace”) and Lily Tomlin (“Frankie”) star as two women whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands reveal they are gay and leave them for each other. Both sparring partners and partners-in-crime, Grace and Frankie form an unlikely and unbreakable bond and face their uncertain futures head-on, hand-in-hand. Together with their ex-husbands and children, they discover the true definition of “family,” with laughter, tears and plenty of mood enhancers along the way.

The show comes from Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris and also stars June Diane Raphael, Baron Vaughn, Brooklyn Decker and Ethan Embry as the duo’s children. Season 5 will see the addition of RuPaul in a guest starring role as Benjamin Le Day, a formidable and quick-witted adversary who faces off with Grace and Frankie.

‘Grace and Frankie’ has landed multiple Emmy and SAG nominations over its 5 season run, although has yet to actually manage to bag the trophy. Both Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are again nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series in the SAG awards this year. Hopefully, 2019 will be their time!

Grace and Frankie‘ Season 5 premieres Friday, 18th January 2019 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
