Attention ‘Baywatch’ Fans… All 9 Seasons Are Now HD Remastered And On Amazon Prime UK!
It may be the middle of winter in the UK, however, if you fancy adding some sun in your life and don’t have time to get away, Amazon Prime UK has you covered, as they add all 9 Seasons of cult classic ‘Baywatch’ in glorious fully remastered widescreen HD format to their streaming service.
For those of you too young to remember ‘Baywatch’ which ended in 2001 (yes, you are that old!), it followed the action and drama in the lives of the Los Angeles County lifeguards (‘the elite of the elite’) who patrol the beaches of Los Angeles County, California. The show starred David Hasselhoff as Mitch Buchannon, the ex-Navy SEAL turned lifeguard, who was the only character and actor to last the entire 9 seasons. It also made a star of Pamela Anderson (‘Barb Wire’), and the iconography of the show’s bright red swimsuits continues to this day.
All 242 episodes of the series have been remastered into high-definition from the original 35MM prints, along with converting it to widescreen format and (somewhat controversially) adding in some more up-to-date music… Although they have replaced 300 songs, the “original” theme tune will stay. And before anyone says anything, by “original” we mean ‘I’m Always Here’ by Jimi Jamison of Survivor, not ‘Save Me’ by Peter Cetera, which, we know, was the original-original theme tune in Season 1. That has been replaced by the better remembered ‘I’m Always Here’ (sorry Peter Cetera fans…) across all seasons.
“The results are phenomenal,” commented Bob McCourt, FremantleMedia COO, who were responsible for the remastering. “When you have the sea and obviously it’s set on the beach, it was such a colourful series, so that colour really comes out when you put it into HD.”
