Possibility of Punisher Season 3 is Being Discussed

The protagonist, Frank Castle may return for the third season of The Punisher, especially after the second season fared relatively well. Fans of the series could see how Castle’s character transitioned in the first and second seasons of the show. It would be rather interesting to see what’s new in the storyline development. Season 1 follows the classic storyline of the Punisher and it’s focused on a grief-stricken man, who avenges the death of his family. Season 2 is more about Frank’s emotional journey and the probability of a new chapter in his life. Just like Daredevil, The Punisher is quintessentially a New York story. But, the showrunner of The Punisher series unveiled about the possibility of taking Frank Castle out of the NYC. It means, there’s a lot more room for storyline development for the subsequent seasons.

The season 3 may show how Frank Castle fully embraces the persona of The Punisher and handles things that emerge for him as he is following a new path. Despite the enthusiasm of the makers of the show, the approval should come from Netflix and we should consider the fact that Marvel hasn’t performed too well recently. The viewership of the season 2 of The Punisher dropped 40 percent compared to the previous season. Viewers’ interests on Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage declined sharply between seasons, which resulted in their cancellations last year.

When we consider The Punisher, we should be aware that it’s a comic book adaptation and it’s at its best when action is heightened and the storyline is deep, while being truthful. It takes real effort from the makers to make all the characters, both protagonists and antagonists appear real and grounded. TV series can become more successful if series makers set a higher bar for themselves with each new season, in terms of set pieces, choreography and overall action. Generally speaking, Marvel has done incredibly well in recent years after being purchased for $4.3bn by Disney, with many of their TV shows and films becoming instant hits with fans, along with all types of spinoffs due to their popularity into areas such as computer games, toys and even sites like Mayfaircasino offering Marvel based games. The Punisher, unlike other Marvel series, should remain a relatively dark show, any excessive inclusion of humour and fun could ruin the traditional character of Frank Castle. TV series allow for a bigger and more diverse storyline for any character, compared to regular 2-hour movies. At the end of season 1, we saw that Frank wants to stay outside of New York City, at least for a while.

A key person behind TV series hinted that it would be interesting to see Castle drives around the country and not wants to stay anywhere too long. It means that the season 3 will be more like a Western genre and Frank himself, already has many elements of a classic Western hero. We may see that the series maker will experiment with the genre, before taking Frank back to New York for some unfinished business.

Obviously, with the cancellations of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fans, fans of The Punisher are getting quite nervous. We hope that we will get season 3 of The Punisher, although there’s a decline in viewership for season2, it still did well enough compare to other cancelled series. Makers of the series are optimistic that they get to go again. The season 2 was finished before the cancellations of other series took place.

However, Jon Bernthal, the leading man of the series said that he is “at peace” with any idea about the cancellation of The Punisher. He knows about the reality of the current TV industry and he is only worrying about things that he can control. He insists that he will do the job and when he plays that character, to make it looks good. However, in the TV business, there’s so much that individual actors can’t control.
