Netflix Releases Trailer And Announces April Premiere Date For ‘Z Nation’ Spin-Off ‘Black Summer’

Last year we lost the wonderfully fun zombie show ‘Z Nation’, however, the pain was slightly lessened by the fact they were already working on a new spin-off titled Black Summer for Netflix. Now, the streaming service has announced it will premiere in April 2019, and released a trailer for the new series.

Set in the dark, early days of the zombie apocalypse, ‘Black Summer’ stars Jaime King (‘Hart of Dixie’, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’) as Rose, a mother torn from her daughter who embarks upon a harrowing journey to find her. Thrust alongside a small group of American refugees, these complete strangers must find the strength they need to fight their way back to loved ones. But in order for Rose and her team to brave this hostile new world, they will need to make brutal decisions to contend with zombies – and each other.

The series also stars Sal Velez Jr. (‘Mayans MC’), Gwynyth Walsh (‘Man in the High Castle’, ‘Van Helsing’), Justin Chu Cary (‘Days of Our Lives’, ‘We Are Fathers’), and Kelsey Flower (‘My Imaginary Ex Girlfriend’). The show is created by ‘Z Nation’s Karl Schaefer & John Hyams.

Black Summer‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 11th April 2019 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
