School is out, pool is open. Welcome to summer of ‘85 in Hawkins… and it’s a summer which could change everything in ‘Stranger Things‘ Season 3.
‘Stranger Things’ is set in 1980’s Indiana and follows the adventures of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), and Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) as they navigate life in small-town America. Along with their best friend, the psychokinetic Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), and older siblings Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Steve (Joe Keery) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer), they deal with whatever life throws at them… which in their case, includes the Demogorgon, which has been terrorising the town of Hawkins from his home in the “Upside Down”.
In Season 3, it would appear Dustin has been away, and has returned to Hawkins for the summer, only to find his friends have been growing up without him. Steve has a new job at the “Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream” shop with newcomer Robin, played by Maya Hawke (Little Women’, ‘Ladyworld’). This is based in the brand new Starcourt Mall, which would appear to be a new hang out for the gang. “We’re not kids anymore,” comments Mike, “I mean, what did you think? We were just going to sit in my basement all day?”
The new season also comes with an excellent soundtrack, kicking off with Mötley Crüe’s “Home Sweet Home”, breaking into The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” (no, it’s not just the theme to ‘CSI: New York’ young people!) Hopefully the music will help take the kid’s minds off the latest scary looking beasty which has crawled out of the “Upside Down”.
‘Stranger Things‘ Season 3 premieres Thursday, 4th July 2019 on Netflix UK and around the world. In the meantime, check out the trailer above and the “first look” images below.
