‘Madam Secretary’ To End With Season 6

Madam Secretary is coming to an end with a 10-episode 6th and final season it was announced today.

‘Madam Secretary’ stars Téa Leoni as Elizabeth McCord, the shrewd, determined secretary of state who drives international diplomacy and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home. A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returned to public life at the request of President Conrad Dalton, who values McCord’s apolitical leanings, deep knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages and ability to not just think outside the box, but not even acknowledge there is a box.

“They’re going to do ten episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline,” commented CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl. “We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘poof goes away’. We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”

The recent 5th Season began following the aftermath of a deadly attack on the White House. This left Elizabeth trying to keep a major nuclear disarmament deal from falling apart while a manhunt for the attackers brought D.C. to a halt. For advice, Elizabeth turned to former secretaries of state Madeleine Albright, Hillary Clinton and Colin Powell.

Madam Secretary‘ Season 5 is currently airing on Sky Witness in the UK.
