With one of HBO’s major dramas ending last night, the US network is keen to remind people they have another big show returning next year to fill the gap, as the first trailer for Westworld‘ Season 3 arrives.

The first season of the show was set in a futuristic theme park staffed by artificial beings, where guests of ‘Westworld’ can live out their wildest fantasies. However, when the robots began to run amok, and the guests found themselves in a place where anything can happen.

*SEASON 2 SPOILERS* In the 2nd Season, the park was in full revolt as the hosts started to fight back. That resulted in a number of our synthetic hosts escaping the confines of the park and into the “real world”, which seems to be where we find ourselves in Season 3.

The new trailer focuses on ‘Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, who joins the show this time around. We don’t yet have much information about the new season, but it would seem Paul’s character is something of a grifter. As he walks across a bridge wearing some sort of workman’s uniform you hear his voice saying “sometimes it seems like the world looks alright… Like they’ve put a coat of paint on it… But inside, it’s rotting to pieces.” It’s clear he’s not happy with the status quo.

“They said they’d make a better world. Smooth away the rough edges. But that was a lie. I guess the rough edges are the only thing I’m hanging onto,” he continues. That’s followed by a shot of him seemingly blowing something up to steal the contents of a building, followed by him being threatened with a gun, and seeing a woman shoot a group of men. As he goes into an underpass, he sees, what appears to be, the same woman clutching her side. Asking her “do you need some help?” she looks up, and it is none other than our old friend Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood).

Westworld‘ Season 3 doesn’t yet have an official premiere date, but we’re expecting it to land in Spring 2020.
