E4 Renews ‘Dead Pixels’ For Season 2, Announces A Raft Of New Commissions

Last night E4 announced a string of new commissions and renewals, including a 2nd Season for geek gaming comedy Dead Pixels.

‘Dead Pixels’ follows three friends, Meg (Alexa Davies – ‘Detectorists’, ‘Harlots’), Nicky (Will Merrick – ‘Poldark’) and Usman (Sargon Yelda – ‘Strike’) who play Kingdom Scrolls, the popular online role-playing fantasy game, set in a magical world of wizards, orcs and wyverns. They are committed to the game. Because in the end, what’s more important – playing badminton with your flatmate Alison (Charlotte Ritchie – ‘Call the Midwife’), or defending Castle Blackfinger from marauding orcs? For Meg, Nicky and Usman it’s no contest, the castle comes first.

In Season 2, the trio makes attempts to build lives away from the game and in the real world, which ironically draws them further back into the online world of the Kingdom Scrolls, and with an expansion pack available anything could happen. Things become even more emotionally complicated for the gang with non-gamer Alison still stuck on the sidelines. Only one thing’s for certain: we’re not ready for Game Over yet.

Mae Martin’s 'Feel Good'

In addition to ‘Dead Pixels’, Charlotte Ritchie will also be starring in Mae Martin’s Feel Good (previously announced under its working title of ‘Mae and George’), which follows recovering addict and comedian Mae, who is trying to control the addictive behaviours and intense romanticism that permeate every facet of her life. Life is further complicated by her new and all-consuming relationship with new girlfriend George (Ritchie) and strained relationship with her mum (‘Friends’ star, Lisa Kudrow).

Other new series include ‘Rob Beckett’s Savage Socials’ (W/T) a 10-part series (8×45’ and 2×60’) which sees Beckett diving head-first into a pool of social media’s most topical, hilarious and outrageous content, all while offering the most savage commentary on TV, and ‘Pants on Fire’, hosted by Emma Willis, which see teams of bluffers put to the ultimate test as new and emerging faces from the world of comedy go head-to-head in an extreme bluffing show to try to impress a celebrity jury.

They also confirmed ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, would be returning to E4 for its 7th Season, along with the 3rd Season of ‘Young Sheldon’, later this year.
